TAFT He signs on this card to a friend’s son on May 4, 1920 in brown ink Autograph Note Signed: “With best wishes/for Paul Linebarger/from a friend of/his father/Wm H Taft/May 4th/1920″, 3¾x2½ card. At the time he signed this card, TAFT was campaigning for fellow Ohioan Warren G. Harding for the presidential nomination. Five weeks later, on June 12, 1920, Harding was nominated and was elected President in November. On June 30, 1921, President Harding nominated Taft to be Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. A college professor and Far East specialist, Linebarger was involved in propaganda techniques and psychological warfare in WWII.
