BURT REYNOLDS Burt Reynolds signs an advertisement for The Burt Reynolds’ Dinner Theatre to a fan. Printed Advertisement inscribed and signed: “To David/your friend/Burt Reynolds”, 1p, 5¼x8½. Advertisement for The Burt Reynolds’ Dinner Theatre, Jupiter, Florida, 1980 Winter Season. He made his TV debut in 1959 and his movie premiere in 1961, but his breakthrough film came in 1972 with Deliverance, which established him as both a star and serious actor. That same year, he became a major sex symbol when he was featured as the first nude male centerfold in the April edition of Cosmopolitan. He went on to become the biggest box-office attraction in America for several years, starring in films such as Hustle (1975), Smokey and the Bandit (1977) (as well as its two sequels), Starting Over (1979), and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982). In 1997, Reynolds was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for the role of Jack Horner in Boogie Nights. Most of her film work has been in MGM musicals, as perky, wholesome young women. In 1952, Reynolds starred in what many consider to be Hollywood’s greatest musical, Singin’ in the Rain (1952). She continued to use her dancing skills with stage work. Her collection numbers more than 3000 costumes and 46,000 square-feet worth of props and equipment. Lightly toned, creased and bowed.
