DABNEY COLEMAN Photograph inscribed and signed: “To Robert/and David-/With all best/wishes/Dabney/Coleman”. Shown with Rue McClanahan. Coleman specialized in secondary character roles that were not outright villains, but somehow lacking in leading-man integrity. The first inkling that he could handle comedy occurred during his supporting stint on the TV sitcom That Girl. In 1976, Coleman was cast on TV’s soap opera spoof Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. Four years later, he burst forth in full hissable glory as the nasty, chauvinistic boss in 9 to 5 (1980); and subsequently co-starred in On Golden Pond (1981) and The Beverly Hillbillies (1993). Coleman starred in the ground-breaking sitcom Buffalo Bill (1983), playing TV’s first thoroughly, unremittingly despicable “hero” and winning a nomination for a Best Actor Emmy. DONALD SUTHERLAND Black and white publicity photograph of Donald Sutherland smoking a cigar. Photograph inscribed and signed: “Fred/Good luck, /Donald/Sutherland”. Tall, lanky and bearing perhaps the most enjoyably sinister face this side of Vincent Price, Sutherland made a name for himself in some of the most influential films of the 70s and early’80s. After appearing in a number of remarkably schlocky films, by the early’70s, Sutherland had become something of a bona fide star, thanks to lead roles in films like Start the Revolution without Me and MASH (both 1970). In 2000, Sutherland enjoyed further critical and commercial success with Space Cowboys, an adventure drama that teamed the actor alongside Tommy Lee Jones, Clint Eastwood, and James Garner as geriatric astronauts who get another chance to blast into orbit. During his career, Sutherland has appeared in over 100 films. Slightly creased at corners. See more material from these signers. See more listings in our ACTORS & ACTRESSES (13,292).
