BURT REYNOLDS Burt Reynolds signs an advertisement for The Burt Reynolds’ Dinner Theatre to a fan. Printed Advertisement inscribed and signed: “To David/your friend/Burt Reynolds”, 1p, 5¼x8½. Advertisement for The Burt Reynolds’ Dinner Theatre, Jupiter, Florida, 1980 Winter Season. He made his TV debut in 1959 and his movie premiere in 1961, but his breakthrough film came in 1972 with Deliverance, which established him as both a star and serious actor. That same year, he became a major sex symbol when he was featured as the first nude male centerfold in the April edition of Cosmopolitan. He went on to become the biggest box-office attraction in America for several years, starring in films such as Hustle (1975), Smokey and the Bandit (1977) (as well as its two sequels), Starting Over (1979), and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982). In 1997, Reynolds was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for the role of Jack Horner in Boogie Nights. ONSLOW STEVENS Vintage photo, a smiling image, inscribed in person to collector Saul Goodman Photograph inscribed and signed: “To Saul/Onslow Stevens”. Collector’s ink stamp on verso dates signature: May 12, 1936. He first appeared on the silver screen in 1931 and spent the next 31 years in mostly character roles. He did star in several movies, including Aramis in The Three Musketeers (1935) and a prominent role in the cult SF classic Them! Among the best known pictures with Stevens in a supporting role were The Charge at Feather River (1935) and The Ten Commandments (1956). He appeared on TV through 1961, mostly in Westerns. MARIE WILSON 7¼x9¼ Elmer Fryer photo of Wilson in straw hat and bow, biting her finger, inscribed in person to collector Saul Goodman Photograph inscribed and signed: “To Saul/Lovingly/Marie Wilson”. Collector’s ink stamp on verso dates signature: September 30, 1939. A former Broadway dancer, Wilson made her film debut in the 1934 Laurel & Hardy film, Babes in Toyland, before signing a contract with Warner Bros. And appearing as the scatterbrained “dumb blonde” in scores of comedies, including Satan Met a Lady (1936) and Boy Meets Girl (1938). Her other films include China Clipper (1936), She’s In the Army (1942), Shine On Harvest Moon (1944), A Girl in Every Port (1952) and Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation (1962). In 1944, Wilson was hired to perform a comedy striptease in Ken Murray’s Hollywood stage revue, Blackouts. She performed her act in 2,332 performances over the next five years, and Wilson would return to the stage when her film career waned. She also appeared in nightclubs and made guest appearances on a number of TV series, including Where’s Huddles (1970, voice) and Love, American Style (1972). Collector’s ink note on verso dates signature: December 21, 1935. After concentrating on stage acting for the next fifteen years, he began appearing frequently on TV playhouses and an occasional series in the 1950s. He played character roles in the movies Fail Safe (1964) and The Group (1966). While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Corners worn and creased. RODDY MC DOWALL Very youthful photo with hair slick back wearing a white button up shirt, Inscribed in person to collector Saul Goodman Photograph inscribed and signed: “To Saul/ sincerely/Roddy McDowall”. McDowall’s first adult acting assignment was as Malcolm in Orson Welles’ 1948 film version of Macbeth. The actor spent the better part of the early 1960s playing Octavian in the mammoth production Cleopatra, co-starring with longtime friend Elizabeth Taylor. An accomplished photographer, McDowall was honored by having his photos of Taylor and other celebrities frequently published in the leading magazines of the era. McDowall’s most frequent assignments between 1968 and 1975 found him in elaborate simian makeup in the Planet of the Apes theatrical films and TV series. Shortly before his death, the Academy of Motion Pictures named its photo archive after him.
