CHUCK CONNORS The smiling actor and sports athlete penned his signature on this color photograph Inscribed photograph signed: “Tony, / Stay Happy, / Chuck/ Connors”, in black felt tip, Color 8×10. He played in both Major League Baseball (MLB) and in the Basketball Association of America, the predecessor to the NBA. Only 12 people have competed in both leagues. Following his career in sports, he grew into an even more famous celebrity as an actor. He earned his first screen credit in Pat and Mike in 1952, where he portrayed a police captain. After earning various television and film credits throughout the 1950s, Connors beat out dozens of other actors for the role of Lucas McCain. When none of these shows achieved the level of success that The Rifleman did, Connors began to focus on the big screen, with roles in Soylent Green (1973) and Airplane II: The Sequel (1982). In a return to television, he had a memorable role in the mini-series Roots (1977) as a plantation owner, one of the many antagonists of the series. Inscribed photograph signed “Dearest Jilly, /We’ve come a/long way from/’The Cave’ – Love/Carol/Connors/ [two music notes]” in blue ink. B/w, 7¾x9¾, printed on cardstock. He was also a longtime friend and chief aide of Frank Sinatra who had cameos in three of the singer’s movies: Tony Rome (1967), The Detective (1968) and the TV movie Contract on Cherry Street (1977). Sinatra even honored Rizzo in his cover of Mrs. Robinson : And here’s to you, Mrs. Robinson/Jilly loves you more than you will know. Singer, songwriter and composer CAROL CONNORS, born in 1940, has been nominated for two Academy Awards, five Emmy Awards, two Golden Globes and a Grammy Award for her songs. The co-writer of the theme song from Rocky , Connors began her career as the lead singer of the Teddy Bears and had a huge hit with Phil Spector’s song To Know Him is To Love Him, which went gold. Since that time, she has appeared before audiences at the White House, State ceremonies, football stadiums and basketball games (she frequently performs the National Anthem at games at the Los Angeles Forum). Also the co-writer of the hot rod song Hey Little Cobra , Connors has written songs for films and television series, including the theme song for Robin Leach’s Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous and Star Search. In addition, she has written themes for entire nations (Jamaica, Singapore and Malaysia), has appeared in several feature films and is well known for her many charitable works.
