ERIC LINDEN Vintage photo in tie and jacket, inscribed in person to collector Saul Goodman Photograph inscribed and signed: “To/Saul/Eric/Linden”. He appeared in a few plays (Faust, 1928) before cast for the lead in RKO’s juvenile Are These Our Children? A favorite of critics even in the most dreadful of pictures, Linden appeared in over 30 movies between 1931 and 1943. His career was hurt by his youthful looks, but what killed it was his appearance as an “amputation case” in Gone With the Wind (1939). Most of his performance was left on the cutting room floor, which made it look like Linden had stooped to accepting a bit part. He appeared in one more film (1941’s Criminals Within) before retiring from the industry. While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Corners worn and creased. Lightly toned around edges.
