(in black fountain pen ink). For Your Great Admiration. With Kindest Personal regards. Yomie was my mother’s uncle. (my grandmother’s brother). He was a dress designer. In the garment center of New York. And also designed costumes for. New York City Broadway shows. (from the 1920s through the mid 1950s). Mae West had observed the quality of his work. And requested that he design costumes. For her Broadway shows, including “Diamond Lil”. Given to my mother in 1953. Placed within her photograph scrapbook for safe keeping. And this is where it remained… BLACK & WHITE PHOTO. To show her appreciation to her costume designer. Mae West asked that a photograph be taken of her on set. Wearing a costume that Yomie had made personally for her. (and later, presented him with this photo). “A rare piece of theatrical history”. American actress, playwright, screenwriter and sex symbol.
