FRANKIE THOMAS Shown as the child star of Wednesday’s Child, inscribed in person to collector Saul Goodman. Photograph inscribed and signed: “To Saul/From/Frankie Thomas”. Collector’s ink stamp on verso dates signature: November 14, 1934. Wednesday’s Child (1934) had the longest stage part ever given to a child actor. When Wednesday’s Child was filmed, Thomas went to Hollywood to star in it, with his parents playing character roles. He played many other youthful parts, including the mayor of Boys’ Town (1940), before patrolling the Atlantic as a Coast Guard officer in World War II. From 1950 to 1955, Thomas starred as Tom Corbett, Space Cadet , beating out Jack Lemmon for the role. Thereafter he left acting to turn his hobbies into professions: writing books about bridge and novels featuring Sherlock Holmes. In the 1990s, Thomas was a hit at fan convention, wearing his old space cadet uniform, which still fit him. While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Scattered surface marks and creases. Mild rippling from affixed caption on verso. See more material from these signers. See more listings in our ACTORS & ACTRESSES (12,502). Please note that this is an authentically signed item.
