Collector’s ink note on verso dates signature: June 6, 1935. He appeared in about one British film per year from Our Betters (1933) to Three Steps in the Dark (1953). He was the male lead in Escape Me Never (1935), featured here, and played the gambler father in the film adaptation of D. Lawrence’s The Rocking Horse Winner (1949). While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Corners worn and creased.
