This book is the only authorized memoir of a living Supreme Court Justice, and one of the greats, Felix Frankfurter. This is is a first edition, fourth printing. It is inscribed to Walter J. With “cordial regards and best wishes” (see photo). Walter Cummings, to me, “Judge, ” was still a lawyer in private practice at the time, he was appointed to the federal Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in 1966, and served until his death in 1999. I was one his last law clerks, and took some memorabilia from his chambers after he died, which is how I came into possession of it. What I really coveted was his own autographed inscription of his client from private practice, Maria Callas, but the family inherited that.
